Pitkin County Jail Roster Overview

The official jail custody source is the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office Inmate Location Summary Report. The report is a one-page PDF for current bookings. It is free and does not require login, but it has no search box, no profile links, and no mugshots. The Pitkin County Jail page links the current-inmates list and identifies the jail as the local facility operated by the sheriff's office.

The roster covers current county-jail custody. It does not cover every person with a past Pitkin County arrest, every person charged in court, sentenced people after transfer to the Colorado Department of Corrections, federal inmates, or immigration detainees. That is why the fallback chain matters. Call the jail for current custody, contact PCSO Records for sheriff arrest lists, check Colorado VINE for notification, and use CDOC, BOP, or ICE locators when the custody system changes.

Use the Pitkin County Roster

The roster works more like a printed report than a modern jail portal. Open the PDF, then read the rows manually. If the browser or PDF viewer has a find function, use it for the last name. A common name should be checked against age, sex, and booking date, because the public report does not publish a date of birth or booking number.

1. Open the current-inmates report from the sheriff's jail page or go directly to the PDF report URL.
2. Use PDF find for the last name when available, or scan the rows by name.
3. Compare age, sex, and booking date before assuming the row is the right person.
4. Read offense and bond as jail-status clues, not as the full court charge list.
5. If the person is missing, call 970-920-5331, contact PCSO Records, check VINE, or search the correct state or federal locator.

Pitkin County Roster Fields

The Pitkin County jail roster has no input fields. The table below treats the PDF columns as the public search surface because those are the only fields a reader can use to match a person. The report inspected on June 1, 2026 showed seven current bookings and a total occupancy count. It did not expose a released list or refresh schedule, so copy should not claim real-time updates.

Pitkin County Inmate Profile Fields

There are no clickable inmate profiles in the Pitkin County public PDF. The absence is important. Larger jail systems may show booking number, housing unit, arresting agency, charge statute, case number, and mugshot. Pitkin's public report omits those fields. Treat the PDF as a custody summary and use records or court channels when more detail is needed.

Pitkin County Jail and DOC

The county jail and the Colorado Department of Corrections answer different questions. The county roster is for current local custody, including pretrial detainees, short jail sentences, and sentenced DOC inmates waiting for transfer. The CDOC offender search is for sentenced state-prison custody after the person enters the state correctional system. Federal and immigration custody are separate again.

Pitkin County Jail Facility

Pitkin County has one official county detention facility. The jail is in the sheriff's office and courthouse complex in Aspen. Jail staff are available at the jail phone line at all hours. Sheriff's Office Records is in the same main office and handles release of sheriff records during business hours. Pitkin County Booking Process

Official Pitkin material does not publish a public booking timeline, but it does describe the local intake flow. The jail operates 24 hours a day. The staffing plan identifies a booking room with motion-sensitive camera surveillance, states that all new inmates are classified with the North Pointe Objective Classification System, and says new inmates normally start in maximum custody until classification and behavior observation are complete.

The jail page also says intake screening, TB testing, and dental testing are done for new inmates. Medical, psychiatric, and emergency services are provided through contracts, with extreme medical cases treated at Aspen Valley Hospital. After intake, communication and visitation follow jail rules. If bond is set, the public roster may show only a number, so the court order and jail staff should be checked before payment.

Pitkin County Jail Visitation

Pitkin County does not allow personal contact visits at the detention facility. Video visitation is available during non-lockdown periods, including holidays, and the inmate is responsible for telling the visitor when they are available. Visits may be remote through Inmate Canteen or at the jail lobby kiosk. The lobby kiosk is first come, first served and free. Remote visits have a minimal charge, but the county pages reviewed did not publish the amount.

Contact Pitkin County Inmates

Inmate phone service is through Combined Public Communications / Inmate Sales. The jail page lists customer service at 1-877-998-5678 and says inmates have direct access to collect calls. Money deposits can be made through InmateCanteen.com, and the FAQ says cashier's checks or money orders may be mailed, while personal checks and food or drink items are not allowed.

The mail rule has an unusual current caveat. Pitkin's FAQ says that, due to inmates being housed in Garfield County Jail while planning for the future, inmate mail must be sent through a Garfield County Jail mail-processing address in Durham, North Carolina, using the inmate's name and booking number. Confirm current housing and booking number before sending mail or money because the Pitkin current-inmates PDF itself does not show booking numbers.

Pitkin County Records Requests

For sheriff arrest lists, use PCSO Records rather than the general county CORA portal. The sheriff's Criminal Arrest Records Search form has a $7 search fee, is limited to Pitkin County Sheriff's Office arrests, and says it returns only a list of arrests. The county CORA page warns that the generic county process is not for law-enforcement records. For a court case after a jail arrest, use Colorado Judicial Branch dockets and court records instead of the jail PDF.

Colorado VINE is also part of the access chain. The Pitkin VINE page says Colorado VINE provides free, anonymous notification by phone or online for Colorado DOC and Colorado county jail offenders, including participating agencies such as Aspen Police Department, Pitkin County Sheriff's Department, Snowmass Village Police Department, and Town of Basalt Police Department.

Pitkin County Custody Notifications

No official Pitkin County Sheriff's Office mobile app was found for inmate roster, warrant lookup, most-wanted, or custody notification functions. Aspen 311 exists as a City of Aspen service-request app, but it is not a sheriff roster app and does not provide jail lookup features. That means the official access path remains the current-inmates PDF, jail phone line, PCSO Records, Colorado VINE, court dockets, and the state or federal locators.

VINE should be treated as a notification tool, not a full roster. It can help victims and other registered users receive release-status information for covered Colorado county jail and DOC offenders, but it does not replace the Pitkin County roster, the court docket, or a records request. If a person may have moved from Pitkin County Jail to CDOC, search CDOC and use VINE for notification rather than relying on the county PDF alone.
